    • Statistics: 3 Negro World Series Championships (1928, 1943 & 1944)
    • From 1904 to 1948, Candy Jim Taylor either played for, managed, or did both for over 25 segregated baseball teams, an incredible accomplishment that boggles the synapses of the brain.

A very good third baseman, Taylor had greater success as a manager, which he showcased with numerous teams in the Negro Leagues and beyond. Taylor won three Negro League Titles, the first occurring in 1928 with the St. Louis Stars. Over a decade later, he took the Homestead Grays to back-to-back titles in 1943 and 1944.

Taylor could have conceivably contributed more to the game, but he died suddenly in 1948 at the age of 64.

We are proud to nominate Candy Jim Taylor for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
