  • With his dry wit, natural humor, and friendly demeanor, Dan Patrick instantly became one of the most likable figures in sports broadcasting.

Beginning at CNN in its sports division, Patrick was recruited by ESPN, where he co-anchored SportsCenter, primarily with Keith Olbermann. Patrick became one of the most recognized and beloved faces of the network, and he would also have his own popular show on ESPN Radio. As much as the pairing of Patrick and ESPN seemed to be a match made in heaven, Patrick shocked the world when he left the mothership to carve his own path.

Patrick would create his own syndicated show and would work for NBC for a decade as the host of Football Night in America. It was a huge risk for Patrick, but he proved you can succeed on your own terms.

In addition to his broadcasting, his friendship with Adam Sandler has led to his appearing in multiple films, though, unlike other sports broadcasters, he rarely played himself or even a sportscaster.

We are proud to nominate Dan Patrick for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
