  • Following a 22-year Hall of Fame career in which he won an MVP and two World Series rings, Joe Morgan brought a player-centric approach to the booth as a man who did it all on the diamond.

From 1985 to 2010, Morgan called games for ABC, NBC, and ESPN, mostly nationally. What set Morgan apart from many of his peers was his old-school mentality and constant reliance on how baseball used to be. While this delighted some fans who agreed with him, newer fans did not like Morgan’s belief that modern analytics were inaccurate and a disservice to baseball players.

Regardless of whether you agreed or disagreed with Morgan’s assessments of the game, it was his genuine feelings. Morgan was one of the most authentic voices of the sport, and that never goes out of style.

We are proud to nominate Joe Morgan for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
