  • Fresh out of graduating from the University of Iowa in 1960, Bob Miller was hired to call hockey, basketball, and football at the University of Wisconsin. A decade later, recommended by the great Chick Hearn, Miller was on his way to Los Angeles, where he would be the broadcast lead for the Kings from 1973 to 2017. It was a phenomenal run that saw Miller lead them from cellar dwellers to two-time Stanley Cup Champions, with Miller becoming one of the most important voices in American hockey.

Miller was a master of pacing and storytelling, and with a slight change in inflection, listeners knew what was about to transpire. He was so revered in Los Angeles that a banner hangs in his honor at Crypto.com Arena and a statue stands outside the facility. He also received national attention for his work on ESPN and appeared in the Mighty Ducks franchise.

We are proud to nominate Bob Miller for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
