  • As much as Jim Lampley called multiple sports for decades, his association with boxing made him legendary.

For over 30 years, Lampley was the primary voice for HBO’s boxing telecasts, which included “HBO World Championship Boxing”, “Boxing After Dark,” and the multiple HBO pay-per-view telecasts, which included multiple title fights, most notably Mike Tyson’s shock loss to James “Buster” Douglas.

Lampley also worked at 14 Olympic Games in various capacities across multiple networks. He also called multiple college and pro football games and was ABC’s studio host for the USFL.

Whatever sport he was calling, Lampley’s enthusiasm and correct place to use it made him one of the best in the business.

We are proud to nominate Jim Lampley for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
