A trailblazer in women’s sports broadcasting, Andrea Joyce had a brief career at ESPN before joining CBS, and it was there that she gained a national profile as a studio host across the sporting sphere.
With CBS, Joyce became one of the most recognized faces in sports media and, in doing so, helped pave the way for other women to follow her path. She covered tennis and basketball for CBS, and at that network, Joyce became the first woman to co-host the World Series.
In 2000, Joyce moved to NBC, and her focus was mostly on Olympic sports, namely gymnastics, figure skating, speed skating in diving. In 2008, she was the only woman to do play-by-play for the Beijing Games.
Intelligent and kind, yet tough and fair, Joyce helped lay the blueprint for female broadcasters.
We are proud to nominate Andrea Joyce for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
