Mike Gorman was one of the longest-tenured broadcasters in North American history, serving as the primary announcer for the Boston Celtics for 43 years.
Gorman’s speciality was his minimalism and allowing the more boisterous color man to get their due. Nowhere was this more evident than in his work with Tom Heinsohn, though the dry-witted Gorman always knew when to lay in.
Beyond the Celtics, Gorman called games for the Big East in the 1980s and for the NCAA Tournament for CBS. He was also part of the 1992 Olympic Tennis broadcast.
We are proud to nominate Mike Gorman for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
