  • While Doucette worked for many teams over his long career, he will always be synonymous with the Milwaukee Bucks. Doucette crossed over from being a rock-and-roll DJ to becoming the radio voice of the Bucks, but it would look like a stunt to some and would become one of the most prolific works in broadcasting history in the Badger State.

Doucette called the Bucks’ first Championship in 1971, but his lexicon as a broadcaster went nationwide. It was Doucette who coined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s famous shot-taking style as the “Skyhook” and referred to the basket as the “Promised Land”. A deep field goal would hear him echo, “Bango.” Bottom line, he was always a fun listen.

Doucette also called basketball contests for four other NBA teams over his career (Indiana, Denver, the L.A. Clippers, and Portland) and baseball for five different teams (San Diego, Cleveland, Houston, the L.A. Dodgers, and Milwaukee)

We are proud to nominate Eddie Doucette for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
