  • A Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Len Dawson was already the Sports Director at KMBC-TV while he was still playing; it was a rare occurrence. Dawson covered sports on days he played, and amazingly, while still in his prime.

After he retired as a player, Dawson hosted HBO’s “Inside the NFL”, a role he had from 1977 to 2001, and he continued his association with the team he led to a title, the Kansas City Chiefs, by serving as their radio color analyst for 32 years.

As a broadcaster, Dawson maintained the same composure he had as a quarterback. This did not stop him from critiquing players when needed, but his calmness and past success on the gridiron kept him from being scrutinized by players.

When he was selected for the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award in 2012, he became the third man to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as both a player and broadcaster.

We are proud to nominate Len Dawson for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
