Even the most casual sports fan has seen Bob Costas at work.
Considered one of the best storytellers in sports, Costas entered the national stage in 1976 as a play-by-play announcer for the NFL on CBS, and when he moved to NBC as an NFL studio host, he was able to call his primary love on the national stage, baseball. Costas was the lead MLB announcer for 16 years and has been a fixture on Sports studios (MLB & NBA) for decades.
Costas’ broadcasting style is calm and cerebral, and his ability to maintain an even temperament amid action is impressive. It is polished finesse on display, whether he is in the studio or the booth.
Costas has also become the face of the Olympics, having hosted the Games on 12 occasions, and he was also a successful mainstream interviewer, having hosted shows like “Later with Bob Costas” and “On the Record”.
We are proud to nominate Bob Costas for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
