Following her premature retirement from tennis in 1980 due to knee issues, Mary Carillo never left the sport. Following some spot work as a commentator, the USA Network signed her to call matches, and the rest was history.

If tennis was called on a significant network, Carillo was calling it. Quick-witted with a booming voice, Carillo is considered by many to be the voice of the sport. She would later call tennis over multiple Olympics and also serve as a studio host on many occasions.

For her work, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2026.
