The son of legendary broadcaster Jack Buck, Joe Buck, carved his own path in the NFL and MLB, much like his father did.
Buck cut his teeth in the booth with his dad, calling St. Louis Cardinals contests, but at age 25, he became the youngest man to call a full slate of NFL games for Fox. Two years later, he was the network’s lead MLB announcer and, at 27 (again the youngest), called the World Series.
Buck’s relaxed calling style often can be misconstrued as a lack of interest, but his smooth way of calling the action and knowing the right time to lay out is praised in most circles. He again made history when he joined his father in winning the Ford C. Frick Award and Pete Rozelle Award.
We are proud to nominate Joe Buck for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
