A legend in the state of Missouri, Jack Buck would become the voice of the St. Louis Cardinals for decades, from the 1950’s to 2000. His “that’s a winner call” dominated the Midwest, but it was not on the diamond where he became immortal. Buck also covered baseball at the national level for both ABC and CBS.
Buck also covered the National Football League, including 18 Super Bowls, and was the voice of Monday Night Football. He is one of the few people who were awarded the Pete Rozelle and Ford C. Frick Award, showcasing Hall of Fame honors in both Baseball and Football.
Perhaps the greatest testament to Buck is the bronze statue that was dedicated to him in 1998 outside Busch Stadium.
We are proud to nominate Jack Buck for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
