Wellington Mara was the son of Tim Mara, the first owner of the New York Giants, and he would follow his father in the family business.
Mara first worked for the Giants in 1937 and would later become the team president in 1966. Learning every aspect he could about the business, the Giants won two NFL Championships and two Super Bowls while Mara was an executive. Mara was a beloved figure not only among fans of the New York Giants but the NFL in general.
We are proud to nominate Wellington Mara for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
