    • Jerry Jones was a star football player at the University of Arkansas, and after he graduated, he tried venture after venture until he hit it big in oil. Jones never forgot his love of football, and in 1989, he used his wealth to buy the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones controversially fired head coach Tom Landry and replaced him with Jimmy Johnson, and his new hire rebuilt the Cowboys. Dallas won three Super Bowls, two with Johnson and one under Barry Switzer, and the Cowboys were back.

Off of the gridiron, Jones was considered an innovator in marketing, merchandising, and media. He was also the driving force behind the creation of AT&T Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility, and template for high-end sports facilities.

Jones might be a polarizing figure, but this is one owner whose desire to win cannot be questioned.

We are proud to nominate Jerry Jones for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
