In 2000, Mark Cuban bought a controlling interest in the Dallas Mavericks, and from day one, he was the most recognized owner in North American sports.
Always present at the front row in Dallas games, Cuban's passion for his team is not just evident; it is contagious. Cuban has no problem stating his disdain for officials and policy in general. It has led to copious fines that are well into seven figures, yet as much as he seems to be a thorn in the side of the NBA, he is well respected among the league.
Cuban is still the Mavericks' owner, and his dedication to his team and the growth of basketball in general. Owners are not usually popular figures, but Cuban is.
We are proud to nominate Mark Cuban for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
