  • John Calipari, who has defined the modern era of college basketball through his elite recruiting and "players-first" philosophy, is one of the most successful coaches in college basketball history. After building a national powerhouse at UMass in the 1990s and leading Memphis to a record-setting 38-win season in 2008, he resurrected the Kentucky Wildcats program starting in 2009. In Lexington, Calipari popularized the "one-and-done" strategy, guiding the team to four Final Fours in five years and securing the 2012 National Championship. His ability to transition elite high school stars like Anthony Davis, John Wall, and Karl-Anthony Towns into NBA lottery picks cemented his reputation as the premier developer of professional talent.

As of this writing, Calipari has brought his skills to Arkansas, where his teams have continued to thrive.

We are proud to nominate John Calipari for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
