  • Jerry York holds the record for the most successful coach in college hockey history, with 1,123 NCAA victories over a remarkable 50-season coaching career. Before his legendary coaching tenure, he was a prominent center for Boston College from 1964 to 1967, where he served as team captain and earned First-Team All-America honors in his senior year. As a player, he scored 134 points and led the Eagles to win the 1965 Beanpot and finish as NCAA runners-up. After ending his playing career, he began his head-coaching career at Clarkson University at age 26, eventually guiding the team to an ECAC regular-season championship in 1977.

York's coaching legacy is marked by his extraordinary success at both Bowling Green and Boston College, making him one of only three coaches to secure NCAA titles at two different institutions. He led Bowling Green to its first national championship in 1984 and, upon returning to his alma mater in 1994, guided the Eagles to four additional national titles (2001, 2008, 2010, 2012) and nine Beanpot championships. Throughout his career, he mentored numerous NHL stars and four Hobey Baker Award winners. York, who retired in 2022, was inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

We are proud to nominate Jerry York for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
