  • Pete Carroll began coaching in 1973, but it was not until 1990 when he became the Defensive Coordinator of the New York Jets that he received proper national attention. In the 1990s, he served as the Head Coach for the Jets and later the New England Patriots, but it was not until he returned to the collegiate ranks that he became a coaching star.

Carroll took the reins at USC and brought them to two National Championships, including four Rose Bowl wins. Carroll transformed USC, and the NFL called him back; his destination was the Seattle Seahawks. In the Emerald City, Carroll led Seattle to 10 playoff appearances, two Super Bowls, and a Super Bowl Championship —the first in franchise history. Furthermore, this made Carroll the third man (behind Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer to lead teams to a title in both college and the pros.

As of this writing, Carroll is the Head Coach of the Las Vegas Raiders and is looking to add to his already impressive legacy.

We are proud to nominate Pete Carroll for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
