There have been a lot of Head Coaches in the National Football League, but few rise to have an aura all of their own.

Bill Parcells is one of those Coaches.

Parcells first became a coach in 1964, and his dedication to detail and discipline took him to the New York Giants as their Defensive Coordinator in 1981. Two years later, he took over as their Head Coach and brought one of the most tenured franchises in the NFL back to prominence.

Under Parcells, the Giants won their first two Super Bowls, and since he achieved this feat in the biggest market in the United States, he became an iconic figure. “The Big Tuna” transitioned into broadcasting, but the lure of coaching proved too strong, and he took over as the head coach in New England. Parcells brought the Patriots to a Super Bowl (though they lost), but an acrimonious power struggle led to his leaving for the New York Jets. He also improved their culture, but retired after three seasons, vowing never to coach again. That is until...

Jerry Jones convinced Parcells to return to the sidelines, and Parcells achieved a winning record over four years. However, he retired from coaching again in 2007, this time for good. Parcells did not win a Super Bowl with a team other than the Giants, but there was no doubt that he was one of the best in the business.
