Member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame
A national Golden Gloves winner in the bantamweight division in 1963, Emmanuel Steward found his fame in boxing as a trainer. Steward would become the lead trainer of the Kronk gym in Detroit, a place that he put on the athletic map.
Many boxers wore those Kronk trunks and had Steward in their corner. Steward is most closely associated with Thomas Hearns, one of the most recognized middleweight champions of all-time. At various times in his career, Steward worked with champions like Julio Cesar Chavez, Tyson Fury, Oscar De La Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, and Aaron Pryor.
We are proud to nominate Emmanuel Steward for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
