  • Charles "Lefty" Driesell has been called the "greatest program builder in the history of basketball," and is not one of the best compliments you have ever heard?

Driesell coached Davidson, Maryland, James Madison, and Georgia State, and in the case of every school, the program was in much better shape than when he arrived. On 21 occasions, he had a winning record, and he was named a conference coach of the year nine times.

At the time of his retirement, his 786 wins were fourth all-time.

We are proud to nominate Lefty Driesell for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
