  • Nicknamed "The Rocket," Roger Clemens is widely regarded as one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history, with a career spanning 24 seasons from 1984 to 2007.

The dominant flamethrower of his era began his professional journey with the Boston Red Sox, where he famously set a Major League Record by striking 20 batters in a single game (and amazingly repeated ten years later) and won his only MVP.

Over his two-decade tenure, Clemens amassed 354 wins (ranking 9th all-time) and 4,672 strikeouts (3rd all-time) while playing for the Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros. His statistical resume is highlighted by a record seven Cy Young Awards, two World Series titles with the Yankees, and the 1986 American League MVP award.

Although Clemens achieved unmatched success on the field, his career legacy is still heavily debated due to allegations of performance-enhancing drug use. The 2007 Mitchell Report prominently listed his name, accusing him of using anabolic steroids and human growth hormone in the latter part of his career.

While the Baseball Hall of Fame may never call his name, it is up to all of you if Clemens enters this Hall.

We are proud to nominate Roger Clemens for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
