  • When the lights were the brightest, “Mr. October” always rose to the occasion.

Reggie Jackson was a highly talented and charismatic power hitter in baseball history. During a 21-year career, mainly with the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees, he hit 563 home runs and was selected to the All-Star team 14 times. He played a key role in the Athletics’ early 1970s dynasty, securing three straight World Series victories and earning the 1973 American League MVP award. Famous for his aggressive "swing for the fences" approach, Jackson’s flair and outspoken nature helped him become a crossover superstar and one of the first modern sports icons in the era of free agency.

Jackson earned his legendary nickname through his memorable performances on baseball's biggest stage. His most notable moment occurred in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series when he hit three home runs on three consecutive pitches from three different pitchers, helping the Yankees secure the title. This achievement made him only the second player at that time, after Babe Ruth, to hit three homers in a single World Series game. With five World Series rings and two MVP awards, Jackson’s skill in handling postseason pressure solidified his reputation as a top

We are proud to nominate Reggie Jackson for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
