When the question is asked about who was the greatest Offensive Tackle of all time, the name Anthony Munoz is usually the answer.
A National Champion at USC, Munoz was considered a risk to be taken third overall in the draft due to injuries in college, but it remains the greatest pick in Cincinnati Bengals history.
Munoz only missed three games in his first twelve seasons and anchored the Bengals to two Super Bowl appearances. Any game involving Munoz caused defensive coordinators to figure out how to work around the strength and agility of Munoz, who was equally spectacular on the rush or pass plays.
A nine-time First Team All-Pro, Munoz had unparalleled accolades at his position and was recently named to the NFL 100th Anniversary Team. You can safely bet that he will be named to every NFL Anniversary Team from now until eternity.
We are proud to nominate Anthony Munoz for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
