Nobody was more intimidating on a mound than Randy Johnson.
Standing at 6’10” and owning a blistering fastball, “The Big Unit” scared batters before he even moved. Johnson overcame control problems early in his career and, as a member of the Seattle Mariners, won his first Cy Young in 1995. His best run in Baseball came with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he won four consecutive Cy Youngs (1999-2002) and pitched the D-Backs to their first World Series Title in 2001.
Johnson retired with a lethal combination of 303 Wins and 4,875 Strikeouts and went down in history as one of the greatest southpaws in the game.
We are proud to nominate Randy Johnson for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
