One of the most feared sluggers of the 1930s, Jimmie Foxx first gained recognition as the young power man of the back-to-back Philadelphia Athletics World Series Champions. Foxx would later win three MVPs (two with Philly and one with the Boston Red Sox) and strung together 13 consecutive 100-RBI campaigns along with 12 straight 30-Home Run seasons.
At the time of his retirement, “Double X” was second all-time in Home Runs, and if he had not been beset with injuries and stayed off the bottle, he could have retired at the top spot. A more complete baseball player than Jimmie Foxx, the game rarely saw.
We are proud to nominate Jimmie Foxx for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
