When you hear the words “Quarterback Sack,” the first thought should be one man: Bruce Smith.
Smith was known as the “Sack Man” at Virginia Tech, where he dropped the QB 46 times and had 71 Tackles for Loss. He was so dominant that the Buffalo Bills used their first overall pick in 1985, and he was the pillar around which the team built a team that went to four straight Super Bowls.
A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Smith set NFL records with 200 Sacks and 13 seasons with at least 10. There has never been a more consistent pass rusher in football history than Smith.
We are proud to nominate Bruce Smith for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
