Frank Robinson spent the first half of his career with the Cincinnati Reds, where he established himself as a player who went deep often and could constantly bat over .300. In a surprising turn of events, Robinson was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, where he won the Triple Crown and made history as the first player to win the MVP in both the National League and American League. Robinson led Baltimore to their first World Series championship and did so again in 1970.
He would later make history as the first black manager in baseball, and his impact was so iconic that his number was retired by three franchises (Cincinnati, Baltimore, and Cleveland).
We are proud to nominate Frank Robinson for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
