Number retired by USC
Cheryl Miller was so good at basketball that there were open debates about whether she might have been better than her brother, Reggie, who was a star in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers. She wasn’t, but her college career was by far more spectacular.
Miller's leadership propelled USC to two NCAA Championships, a feat that remains unmatched. Her dominance on the court was recognized with three Naismith Player of the Year titles. Her legacy at USC is further solidified by her record-breaking 3,018 Points and 1,354 Rebounds, the highest in the Trojans' history. Such achievements led to the retirement of her number, a testament to her unparalleled contribution to USC basketball.
While the WNBA had yet to be formed when she left college, Miller was coveted by multiple professional leagues, including men’s. Knee injuries prevented her from accomplishing much as a professional, but she had a successful career as a coach, executive, and analyst.
We are proud to nominate Cheryl Miller for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
