Playing in four different decades, Nolan Ryan appeared to age, but his right arm kept throwing out batters, winning his last of eleven Strikeout Titles at 43.
Ryan's 5,714 strikeouts are more than 800 than his nearest competitor, and with the lack of innings thrown by starting pitchers today, this record looks to be safe. The same can be said for Ryan's seven no-hitters. Ryan is the only player in three franchise Hall of Fames (Los Angeles Angels, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers), with his number retired by all three. The only team he played for that did not grant those honors; the New York Mets, is the team he helped win the World Series in 1969.
We are proud to nominate Nolan Ryan for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
