While bowling has always been a popular sport in terms of participation, its televised heyday was the 1970s, and it had one undisputed kingpin, Earl Anthony.
Anthony is considered the best bowler of all-time, and it is hard to imagine that this will ever change. A six-time PBA Player of the Year Award, Anthony was as much of televised sports in the 1970s as any other athlete, and his 43 Titles stood as a record until 2008.
The first bowler to earn $100,000 in a season and $1,000,000 in a career, Anthony was named the Bowler of the Millennium by Bowling Digest.
We are proud to nominate Earl Anthony for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
