  • Jack Parker’s legacy is closely tied to Boston University, where he spent 47 years as a player and coach. He was a standout center from 1965-1968, captained the team, and helped win three Beanpot championships. After coaching high school hockey at Medford, he returned as an assistant coach, helping win national titles in 1971 and 1972 before becoming head coach in December 1973.

    As a head coach, Parker became one of the most successful figures in college hockey history, amassing 897 wins over 40 seasons. At the time of his retirement in 2013, this was the highest record at a single school. He led the Terriers to three NCAA national championships in 1978, 1995, and 2009, and secured an unprecedented 21 Beanpot titles. A three-time NCAA Coach of the Year, Parker coached many NHL players and Olympians, including four members of the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team. He was also inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 2025.
