  • After a brief playing career, Wilbert Robinson was the manager for the Baltimore Orioles 1902 for part of a season, when John McGraw bolted for the New York Giants. It did not last long, as he would join McGraw as their pitching coach where he was a part of five National League pennants and a World Series title in 1905.

Robinson would again try managing in 1914 when the Brooklyn Robins signed him. He did well, staying with Brooklyn until 1931, where he won two pennants but was unable to win the World Series. Nevertheless, Robinson did well with the talent he had and had there been manager of the year awards back then; he would have had a few in his trophy case.

We are proud to nominate Wilbert Robinson for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
